SWmud

This skill allows a smuggler or a merchant to take an item and attempt to determine the value of that item. For smugglers, this gives the value for that item and is not necessarily the price a smuggler would get for that item when sold. Merchants see an approximate amount what they would get for the item if sold at a shop. Players who are both merchants and smugglers are able to see both values.
